Writing powerful marketing messages in 10 simple steps

Once you have a clear strategy in place you will need to be able to communicate your offer to your audiences. We want it to compel them to buy, or take action.

Here are my top tips for writing powerful marketing messages.

  1. Concise: Keep it short. No longer than 15 words per sentence ideally
  2. Strategic: Communicate what makes you different
  3. Relevant: What does our audience need to know?
  4. Compelling: Ensure it is meaningful and designed to stimulate action
  5. Simple: Easy-to-understand language; avoid jargon and acronyms
  6. Memorable: Easy to recall and repeat
  7. Tailored: Ideally we should be able to adapt our messages to our different target audiences
  8. For them: Communicate what is in it for them and speak directly to the customer
  9. Emotional: Think about the negative and positive emotional triggers that would encourage someone to buy
  10. Prove it: Back up any claims you make with evidence that will give your buyer no reason to doubt it

Amazing marketing results for estate agents

We recently worked with estate agents, Wm Sykes & Son, to create a new marketing strategy and rebrand.

It’s only six months after we have launched and they are seeing some amazing results. Wm Sykes & Son have 145% more new instructions than their nearest competitor. They are the number one in the market, which is a fantastic achievement.

Many properties are selling as soon as they are marketed. Their new Facebook page achieved over 200 likes one week after launch and has helped them sell properties, some selling within 24hrs, as shown below. In July alone they sold 40 properties, achieving 50% above target.

Take a look at what Wm Sykes have said about their results on their Facebook page and have a read of the case study here.

Is your website ready for Google Armageddon: A freelance marketing directors view

Does your business rely on website traffic to generate income? If so, you may need to make some changes to your site, pronto.

From April 21st 2015 Google is changing the way it ranks your website. It has announced that websites that are optimised for mobile will be viewed more favourably on the worlds biggest search engine. That means that if your website is not responsive (where the site automatically resizes depending on the device you view it on), or created to be viewed easily on a mobile, you are likely to be penalised. This will mean less traffic and potentially less income.
